Purpose

The Freedom of Information Unit (FOIU) was officially established in 2001 to oversee the operations of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Our main functions are:

TRAINING

 

  • Train and sensitise public officers on their roles and responsibilities under the Act
  • Educate the public on their rights to access information

 


 

MONITORING AND EVALUATION


  • Develop a monitoring and evaluation framework for the Act
  • Conduct research on the administration of the Act and make recommendations for improvement
  • Provide policy advice to the executive and other external clients

 


 

CLIENT RELATIONS 

  • Assist members of the public in making requests
  • Assist public officials with queries pertaining to the Act
